Bathroom Meter: 4 out of 5 stars. I have seen women SPRINT to the bathroom- almost falling over in their high heels- just so they don’t miss a moment of this movie.
Loosely based on Channing Tatum’s life, pre-acting-career. An experienced male stripper takes a young performer under his wing, teaching him how to pick up women, make easy money, and generally get in a shitload of trouble!
Have I sat down to watch it? Not yet.
Have I theater-watched it? Yes, I’ve seen the entire movie. Many, many times.
Main Audience Demographic: OH MY GOD SO MANY CRAZY DRUNK WOMEN.
Audience reaction as they leave the theater: They’re pretty happy and chatty. But they’re drunk. And they just saw hot men dance around in thongs for two hours. How could you not be happy and chatty?
Best comment: “I thought it was just going to be silly, but it was actually not bad at all!”
Worst comment: “Not enough stripping!” (no joke)
See it or not? Totally! You go in it expecting absolutely no plot, and just all stripping, and then you get a movie that is actually pretty good. PLUS you get the stripping you expected! So it’s a win-win, right? And it’s from the guy who made sex, lies, and videotape. It can’t be that bad.
Best part? Matthew McConaughey. He’s been waiting for a role like this his entire life.
